During the COVID-19 pandemic, WAYVE Foundation undertook relief initiatives to support migrant workers, low-income families, single women, daily-wage earners, activists, patients and healthcare workers.
Relief and Aid Helpline—RAAH
During the nationwide lockdown in 2020, WAYVE established the Relief and Aid Helpline—RAAH to assist migrant workers and families from economically and socially marginalised communities.
Support was provided to migrant workers living in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, including people who had migrated from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.
Ration Kits and Emergency Financial Assistance
WAYVE distributed ration kits to destitute single women, daily-wage earners and families from marginalised communities in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. This assistance was made possible through support from individual donors and funding organisations.
Limited financial assistance was also provided to activists who tested positive for COVID-19 or had a COVID-positive family member and required immediate support.
Medical and Hospital Support
WAYVE supplied pulse oximeters and oxygen concentrators to doctors and hospitals in Uttar Pradesh during the pandemic.
During the second wave of COVID-19, WAYVE also distributed cooked meals to more than 100 COVID-19 patients and healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses, at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. This support continued for almost a month.
